Heart iconHeartsaver® Class (ages 12+)

First Aid, CPR and AED trainings teach CPR on adults, children, and infants, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The Basic Life Support (BLS) class is designed to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, perform CPR using an AED, and perform the Heimlich Maneuver for choking victims. Students will receive a 2-year certification. The Chautauqua Safety Village is certified through the American Heart Association.

In Person CPR 1st Aid

In-Person CPR, AED & First Aid Training

AHA Heartsaver CPR, AED & First Aid Training is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. The course teaches students how to perform CPR, choking relief maneuvers, first aid techniques, and the use of an AED on adults, infants and children.  In person class is approximately 4 hours depending on number of students.

Blended CPR & 1st Aid

Blended CPR, AED & First Aid Training

The Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online course is taught in a blended learning format. Students must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on skills session conducted by a Safety Village instructor. Students who successfully complete the online course and skills session, will receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion card, valid for two years.

Please read carefully.  This course offers the flexibility of two different course paths:

Heartsaver Total – Comprehensive course designed for those requiring training to meet OSHA, Day Care, Coaching or other regulatory agency requirements.  You must choose the Total path when starting the course.

Heartsaver – Shorter Heartsaver course path offers the flexibility to add optional topics. Add on optional topics when required topics are completed.

Friends & Family CPR (Non-Certifying)

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult CPR, child CPR, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.  This course includes skills practice throughout the session and is for those who wish to learn CPR but do not need a 2-year certification.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support (BLS)

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who should take this course?
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

What does this course teach?

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Course Options:

In-Person: 

Instructor-led, hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency. The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.  Classes need a minimum of 4 people and are scheduled on an as needed basis.

Heartcode (Blended):

HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s BLS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on skills session.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens Training

The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who should take this course?
The AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course is designed for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as: Correctional Officers, Childcare workers, Security guards, Maintenance workers, School personnel, Hotel housekeepers, Health and fitness club staff, and Tattoo artists.

What does this course teach?
This course uses the PACT acronym (Protect, Act, Clean, Tell) and tagline, “Make a PACT, Know How to Act™,” to help students learn and easily recall bloodborne pathogens training.

Students learn how to:

  • Protect themselves from blood or blood-containing materials.
  • Act quickly and safely.
  • Clean the area that has blood or blood-containing materials.
  • Tell their supervisor about the incident.

Refund Policy:
If you cancel more than two weeks before class, we will refund everything except the 3% processing fee.   If you cancel between one and two weeks of the class, you will receive a 50% refund.  There are no refunds for cancellations made less than 1 week before class starts or for no-shows on the night of the class.
